Wildfires Pumped Smoke to Record Heights

Categories: News | Pubby Cash Received:  0

Australia's most recent wildfire season was so critical that smog from the flames approached distinct elevations in the atmosphere. Tons of bushfires overflowed across Australia from December 29 to January 4. The clouds attracted within 300,000 and 900,000 metric tons of smoke into the stratosphere, which is more smoke than observed from any preceding inferno. As winds swirled one vast, long-lasting smoke plume around, it increased to record altitudes. Such powerful winds have never been detected around comparable plumes. Another surprising question remained how high the haze lifted in the breeze. The growing plume boosted record quantities of water plus carbon monoxide. People worry that too abundant smoke could weaken the ozone layer, which shields Earth from the sun's destructive radiation. Many scientists think that if the heated smoke rose high enough, it could remain for ages and pose a physical threat to the ozone layer. That is it for this article and I hope you learned some new things....  Read more

Bumper Tables

About a dozen of the so-called "bumper tables" were rolled out at Fish Tales(a restaurant in Ocean City, Maryland) on May 16. The inflated tube tables were created by Revolution Event Design & Production. The company is based in Baltimore, Maryland. The bumper tables are intended to enable people to follow social distancing while feeding and talking in open-air environments. The accessories feature a hole in the middle which accommodates people around 4 to 6 feet tall. Wheels are attached to the underside for moving around, so members get a little spring in their step. But the main function of this tool is that they maintain a 6-foot distance from each other. The people who designed this product wanted to come up with a creative way to keep people safe. Shawn Harman is the owner of Fish Tales says that he hopes that customers can enjoy their meals and remain distanced while dining in the restaurant's parking property....  Read more

A space race to Mars?

Categories: Education | Pubby Cash Received:  0

Did you know that there are three countries are trying to get toward the red planet? This red planet is no other than the fourth planet from the Sun, Mars! The three countries heading towards this planet are the United Arab Emirates, China, and the United States. But why are these countries launching right now, and why not later? This is because there is a short time every 26 months when Earth and Mars come close together. This makes it more efficient and faster to make a journey to Mars. But since this window closes in mid-august, some of the missions will have to wait until 2022 to launch. However, putting this robot into storage until 2022 would take around half a billion dollars for taxpayers to pay. In conclusion, many of these missions of going to Mars will have to wait until 2022 until they are ready to launch. Well, that's it for this article and I hope you learned any new information....  Read more

Ice Researcher

September 2019 is when a man named Ian Raphael boarded a research ship where he would survive for six months, along with 60 other scientists. They had decided to head to the North Pole to study the cryosphere, portions of Earth's surface where water is in a solid form including glaciers and ice sheets, in the Arctic Ocean. Ever since then, the enormous vessel had drifted through the arctic, where the group of 60 scientists conducted numerous measurements. These scientists have attended various courses to get this far. Their job is to study and measure how sea ice is growing, breaking, drifting, melting, and how snow affects all of those. The ordinary day for Ian Raphael went something like this. He would first wake up and have breakfast followed by a meeting at 7:30 in the morning. After that, they would drill openings in the ice to take a sample that they would then inquire about. They would work until 5:30, and they have dinner. Well, that is it for this article and I hope you gained more knowledge by reading this....  Read more

How to Deal With Late Night Fire Alarms

Categories: General | Pubby Cash Received:  0

It could be any time that your carbon monoxide (smoke) detectors go off, and it is of great nuisance when this alarm appears between 1 am - 5 am! We have just experienced such an alarm at 5 am today when everyone is asleep. There is no smoke, no fire, definitely nothing as I inspected the house. It is an false alarm! Don't be panic! The alarm circuit cannot last forever. Most manufacturers will desensitize/reset it for up to 8 minutes. If there is indeed no smoke, no fire, the alarm will go away by itself. Just be patient. If you have to step in physically to solve the problem, you will need to find the initiating unit first. It is the one that is flashing red or green at least once every second while in alarm mode, and then push the Test/Hush button, which can be used repeatedly until the air has been cleared of the condition causing the alarm. If the alarm stopped on its own before you could find that flashing light, you will need to refer to the owner's manual to see if the alarm model has a memory to tell you which unit was initiating. Since false alarms are commonly triggered by something interfering the sensor, to clean the sensor, you need to disconnect the alarm, remove any removable battery, hold the unit by its edge and thoroughly vaccum out the gap between the front cover and the back plate all the way around the perimeter with the crevice tool attachment of a vacuum cleaner, or blow through the same gap with compressed air. If you need to reset the unit after a battery replacement, make sure you press and hold the test button after a new battery is installed. The unit will chirp once when the power is restored, and should not chirp afterwards. Under no circumstances should you remove the battery to silence the alarms. You will need the real alarm in future, or it will cost your life. Well, what is the reason for the false alarm we got today? Maybe we had a detector became faulty; air humidity was high; or there were substances in the air that caused fumes. We tend to believe the humidity in the air was the reason for our case. We fell asleep with windows open and it was raining outside. In some area of the house, the moisture could be aggregated and in this area there happened to be a smoke detector. ...  Read more
