In summer 2019, Nenette the Bornean orangutan and Henry, an Aldabra tortoise received birthday cakes created of treats they consume. Zoos around the globe celebrate animals' birthdays and the cakes are composed of what the animal frequently eats. Lisa Riley is an animal scientist and she said the cakes can make an animal feel better because the animal gets to answer problems. It also gives it a chance to try dissimilar tastes and textures. Tuan Tuan and Yuan Yuan are pandas that are twins and live at the Taipei Zoo. The pandas get birthday cakes each year while parts of the cake are hidden. The pandas have to search for the food which is similar to what pandas have to do in the wild. In 2019, the twins got an ice cake which was in the shape of a unicorn. Birthday parties for zoo animals are popular but they are not new, though, since, in the 1930s, the Bronx Zoo served a cake to a hippopotamus. Well, that is it for this article and I hope you learned something new.
